We often get inquiries as to how to go about getting married during town pass.  The best advice is to do your research and plan.  Remember, time is limited on graduation day!  You still have to have your Airmen/Guardian back at the required time that evening.  You can opt for a courthouse wedding or find a local minister/chapel, etc that can do a small ceremony at a pre-determined location.

By Texas law, you can waive the 72 hour waiting period after getting your marriage license as long as one of you is an active duty military member (your Airman/Guardian).

Please remember Town Pass can be taken away.  It doesn’t happen very often but it does happen. In that case you would need to Google “marriage by proxy” in Texas to have a backup plan ready.

Here are a few tips from those who have done this before:

Prepare BEFORE graduation

  1. Have your driver’s license with you
  2. Bring your Birth certificate (or official copy)
  3. Bring your Social Security card (or official copy)
  4. Your soon-to-be spouse will need his/her military id
  5. Go to Bexar County Courthouse before 5pm Wednesday (100 Dolorosa, San Antonio, TX, 78205)
  6. Apply for marriage license ($66, cash only)
  7. Proceed with ceremony of your choice (additional costs determined on what and who you choose)
