COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will the Airmen/Guardians have their personal cell phones while they are on town pass?
Possibly. This is at the discretion of their MTI.  They are permitted to use the phone/tablet/computer of family/friend.  However, if they are on a cell phone they cannot walk and talk while in uniform.

Can my Airman/Guardian still be recycled even after the Graduation events?
Yes!  Although they have received their coin and walked in the parade, they are technically still in training.  Failure to follow the rules of BMT can result in being recycled or losing time with family that weekend.  Read more about the trainee rules of conduct HERE.

My trainee says they had time taken away from their town pass with us?  Can the MTI really do that?
Absolutely.  MTIs often threaten trainees in the final weeks of BMT with “losing time.”  Fortunately, they almost always earn it back by the time family/friends are there.

Can I give my Airman/Guardian a graduation gift?
Gifts such as cards and congratulatory letters are acceptable.  Click HERE for gift suggestions.

May I bring my Airman/Guardian personal items and clothing over to take to tech school?
The current BMT policy remains the same.  Graduates are not permitted to bring large items, nor electronics back to the dormitories after graduation.  Those items must be mailed to their Technical Training location.  Graduates have to be able to carry everything they own when they ship to technical training, including everything we have issued them at BMT.  Loading them down with additional gear takes up valuable space and makes their transition harder.  Click HERE for more information.

When will my Airman/Guardian leave for tech school?
Most Airman leave for tech the next day (Friday) directly after Graduation; however, some might leave very late Graduation Day (Thursday).
